PRACTICING FILMMAKER AS EDUCATOR

I first started teaching film as an MFA student in the film program at Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts - Department of Transmedia. Now, I teach graduate and undergraduate classes in the same program as an adjunct instructor. My teaching portfolio mirrors my focus on writing and production and it ranges from introductory production class for freshmen students to more advanced writing and cinematography class for upperclass and graduate students.

As an educator, I draw from my experience as a practicing filmmaker to teach students by giving them context in real world situations. Additionally, to accommodate new topics emerging from rapidly evolving technology and content distribution methods, I regularly analyze relevancy of the material that I teach and make necessary adjustments.
